Our Goals
MMF Vision
To help the University of Arizona Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences Department (UA HAS) be the gold standard Program for obtaining a foundational, one-year, in-person, project-based Master of Science (MS) degree in Hydrogeology.
We envision graduating leaders through this Program with a strong set of core competencies that will allow them to address critical water resource management problems for the good of society in Arizona, the arid Southwestern US, and globally.
MMF Mission
Fundraise to sustainably endow a competitive and perpetual Meixner Grant for the Professor who does the extra work engaging the wider hydrogeologic community to develop student projects, a critical component of the project-based curricula. Support the coordinating Professor in maintaining a pipeline of such projects to guarantee the Program’s long-term continuity and success.
Student Support
- Provide two different Meixner Awards to high performing students in their first Program semester, as recommended by the coordinating Professor.
- Support efforts and help coordinate events that provide students an opportunity to interact with potential employers.
- Support student presentations at conferences, as funding allows, of work completed during their time in the one-year MS Program.
